The characters are what drive the novel. Although they are brought together by a shared desire to find more spiritual clarity, it is their individual uniqueness that solidifies the group. They are each from a different country and culture. They practice different religions and they practice different martial arts. They will need all of these things to be successful in generating Critical Mass.
