E. Bruce Bushong

E. Bruce Bushong grew up in Oklahoma, and after practicing law in Dallas, Texas, he returned home to teach English at his alma mater high school. His current release, Critical Mass – A Spiritual Adventure to Save the Planet, was conceived over 40 years ago while he was in law school. He finally started writing it in 2003 but, because of various life detours, it took him 20 years to complete the nearly 600-page epic.

Bruce lives with his wife and dogs in Shawnee, OK. The recently retired Mr. Bushong taught English and Creative Writing for 18 years. He was also the Mock Trial coach and created the Writer’s Block, a creative writing club. Bruce has had four sons. Two older sons have successful careers, one in Boston and the other in Montana. However, the two youngest sons were killed in a car accident in Dallas in 2004, one of those life detours. It is that tragedy that pushed Bruce back to his hometown and into teaching.

Bruce has said, “I love my job. I just wish I had come to it in a different way.” In the move back home, Bruce also reconnected with an old high school flame, and they were married in October of 2005.

Mr. Bushong has two books out. In his first book, Fatherman Down, Brad survives a car accident only to be paralyzed. He struggles and loses everything, including his law practice. After regaining the use of his arms, he finally realizes that he has a gift for writing and writes a bestseller called Critical Mass.

In his second book, the epic that is Critical Mass, the characters are trying to create a self-aware planet through meditative and spiritual practices using the Tree of Life. All of the places that the characters go to be trained by the Magi are real. Each of the five main characters is from a different country, and they practice different religions. They also practice different martial arts. The idea of the book is inspired by spiritual practices that are all-inclusive and by a deep desire to have all of us live together in peace.
